New Pastor Appointed to FUMC Laredo
First United Methodist Church Laredo announces the appointment of a new Pastor to the church. Pastor Alvaro Guzman, a retired Methodist minister from Laredo, will be filling the pulpit and duties at FUMC beginning June 28.
Pastor Alvaro comes with over 40 years of experience preaching and evangelizing in churches in and around Laredo. After receiving an undergraduate degree from Laredo State University, he continued to obtain his elder credentials with the United Methodist Church.
His many years of experience includes appointments at La Trinidad Iglesia Metodista Unida in Laredo and different positions at the Conference and District levels of the United Methodist Church. He has served on the Board of Pension and presently serves on the District Committee of Ministry board.
Pastor Guzman is married to Olivia and they are the proud parents of 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
When asked why he is coming out of retirement and going back to the pulpit, he said, “I thank God for every opportunity I have to preach the Gospel and I have to continue.”
